Course Update – March 25th

The Course and Maintenance Team were again busy this week preparing & reinstating the course following the floods. Progress thus far has been encouraging and the volume of member compliments & encouragement has been hugely appreciated by the entire team – thank you.

Specific works include: –

  • Scarifying the 18th fairway to break up the remaining embedded silt. This process is likely to continue periodically however the rain scheduled for this weekend should aid the task.
  • Tree removal & cleaning up of damaged areas on hole seven.
  • Dethatched all Greens with dusting planned for Monday 28th
  • Several bunkers on holes 1-9 have been reinstated & this task will progress across the entire course over the next few weeks.

The course is still well short of the condition it was in prior to March and the poorer areas are easily identifiable. Importantly we have had another positive week & we are certainly moving in the right direction. It is also notable that the areas that were less impacted by the floods have enjoyed the “rest” & reduced volume of play.

The Club has begun the process of rescheduling major events (refer to earlier email and member post) as well fairway renovations, which following the flooding becomes a critical task.

After 14 years, we farewelled Harley Richards who has chosen to pursue an opportunity outside of the horticulture industry. We wish Harley the very best and thank him for his service. Pleasingly, the team welcomed two new staff members this week, Matt Leishman & Jack Meehan. Jack more recently was a member of the club hospitality team & is thrilled with the opportunity to become a member of the course team.
