It is not every year that a new name is added to the Gwen Osterlund Trophy. It is only awarded every so often and goes to a lady who has given of their time and energies over many years at the club. This year, the trophy was awarded to Sue Marshall. Sue was the first woman to be elected full term on the Keperra Board in 2006. It took 20 years after the women received equal rights in the Club for this happen. She was also the first female president for the Club serving from 2010 to 2012. After McLeod Golf Club, a woman’s golf club, she was only the 2nd female to serve as president of a golf club in Queensland. She took over the presidency when the club was more than a million dollars in debt. She was presiding over the club when they appointed Gavin Lawrence as General Manager, a very successful appointment. Sue presided over the changes to the constitution which has served the club well to the current time. She is also on the 2024/25 constitution review committee. Sue set up a 5-year Strategic Plan for the club which was also a new initiative at the time, and one that continues as key to the planning for the future of our club.
Thanks Sue, a worthy recipient of the trophy.
AMAZING SCORE
Score of the month/year/decade was a whopping 49 Stableford points by Robyn Baker. Congratulations and good luck doing that again with the new lower handicap!
