Course News

Course News

The Course and Maintenance Team have been active in oversewing selected Tees and Greens. More specifically, this has involved Tees 24 and 26 with Rye Grass and Greens 7/8/17 with Bent Grass. It is anticipated that the oversewing will provide these tees and greens with a little more protection over the colder months.

The condition of greens on 7/8/17 has again become a seasonal concern primarily due to their locations and the poor growing conditions that come with excessive shade, lack of airflow, and, in some instances, tree roots. Identifying the reasons for these issues is somewhat the easy part, but achieving a solution is an ongoing challenge due to vegetation & environmental regulations that apply in these areas.

The upgrading of drainage between holes 1/10/18 will commence on Monday 10th June (and is expected to finish Tuesday). The improvements will include the addition of new access pits. Minor repairs to the causeway on hole 7 are also planned as part of the contractor’s scope of work.

As the Team moves into its Winter Maintenance program, we have prioritised an audit on the bunkers, focusing on drainage and sand depths, tree trimming to improve airflow and light throughout the course and inspecting sprinkler heads for effectiveness.
