Lenny has a day out

Congratulations to Club Stalwart Len (Lenny) Wilkinson who shot 79 off the stick for 50 points around the North Course on November 13th. Lenny is 85 years young and been a Member of Keperra for 41 years. Well done Lenny on an exceptional round!

Course Update

Over the past three weeks, we experienced significant rainfall, with 240mm recorded. The course has handled the rain exceptionally well, and while the reduction in rounds has helped alleviate wear and tear, it has also resulted in a revenue loss of approximately $40,000.

The wet conditions have caused the need for minor clean-up work on holes 4, 5, 7, and 23, with no significant damage or repairs required across the course. Various spray programs have been interrupted and the need for disease control has been elevated. On a positive note, we're pleased with the greens and fairways recovery following their recent renovation.

Turf repairs on the mounds of Hole 13 and the approach to Hole 17 have commenced and schedule for completion in early December. Some minor bare patches on fairways 5 and 18 have also been repaired. Additionally, the new tees are advancing well, and it is anticipated that they will be ready for play for the start of the 2025 season.

Dylan at PGA Championship

Congratulations to our own Dylan Bartlett who volunteer at the Australian PGA Championship at Royal Queensland Golf Club. Dylan is nearing the completion of his Greenkeeping Apprenticeship having been with the Club for several years. Dylan was 1 of 20 volunteers, many of who actually came from interstate with one even from the UK and his responsibilities involved mowing fairways, bunker preparation and repairing divots. Dylan is eagerly looking forward to the next event to be involved in. Well done Dylan on such a rewarding initiative.

KCGC Nominated by Golf AUS & R&A

The Club was extremely thrilled to have been nominated as one of the most progressive Clubs of the Year for the 2024 R&A Women in Golf Charter Awards. The awards were held last week in Melbourne to coincide with the Australian Open Championships.

Junior Holiday Clinic

Club Pro Chris McCourt will once again be running a 1 day, School Holiday Clinic on Thursday the 16^th of January. There will be a 2-hour session for our Rookies & Stars from 8am - 10am (cost will be $49p/p), and there will be a 4-hour session for our Master, Grand Master & Champion students from 12pm - 4pm (cost will be $90p/p).

2024 Summer Cup

This years Summer Cup was unfortunately heavily impacted by the wet weather of recent weeks, with the second round forced to be abandoned when the course eventually became unplayable.

The Match Committee determined to reduce this year's Summer Cup to an 18 hole event, with scores submitted on 23^rd of November determining winners for 2024.

Congratulations must go to Mitchell Lauchs, who returned a fine score of 61 nett on the Old Course to be our Champion.

In the gross event, Mark Draper was victorious, shooting a tidy 2 under par 69 around the North Course.

KCGC Junior News

It was a big month for some of our Junior Eagles last month. Firstly we had the Qld PGA at Nudgee where 4 of our Juniors competed in the MyGolf Pitch & Putt event. Keperra was proudly represented by Alex, Florence, Miller and Ellie. Although they didn't come away with the win and I have been assured the kids had a ball.

Next up we were off the Australian PGA hosted by Royal Queensland where we had the Junior Kirkwood Cup, this time we had Ruben, Arthur, Miller and Ellie representing Keperra. The format was a 2 person ambrose on a 5 hole short course. In an extremely competitive field, the kids put on a fine display coming up just short.

It was a full week for Arthur, who also participated in the Caddy Kid Program, which saw him team up with American Professional, Jordan Gumberg, to cap off an amazing experience, Arthur was the proud recipient of Jordan's Titleist Tour Golf Bag!!

Ladies Corner

The major ladies events of the month were the Closing Day and Annual Meeting, both held on 26 November.

Pit Lowered in carpark
