Michael Klumpes - Albatross - 1st hole

Congratulations to Michael Klumpes who on Sunday achieved one of the rarest feats in Golf - an Albatross.

"We were playing the 1st hole (our 10th for the day) and it had been an average front nine.  That changed when I found the middle of the driver and smashed it over the trees but I couldn't see it land. I was hoping the ball had made it down the hill and onto the flat section without kicking into the dam.

When we got there I couldn't find it anywhere so I was about to play a drop when Benn (my playing partner) walked past it about 30 meters along the flat section in the rough near the cart path. I had a decent lie and it was 130m to a middle right flag. The wind was helping so I changed clubs from a 9 to a PW. I'm glad I did!

Hit a perfect wedge straight at the pin. It bounced and rolled close. I turned away to put the wedge back in the bag thinking that I'm putting for eagle! I'm pretty happy!

Suddenly Benny's yelling that it's gone in. I didn't see it go in and didn't believe it until I saw it in the hole. High fives all round and feeling fantastic!"

The Keperra Lads go 1 & 2

Congratulations to Keperra Associates Jack Jones and Jordan Rooke for winning the Nudgee PGA Open Match on the Bulka Course played early February with a field size of 70 Associates.  Jack shot an impressive -3 in tough conditions to hold off Jordan and Luke Parker by a shot.

8th retaining Wall - Progress report

We are pleased to provide an update on the construction of the new retaining wall on hole 8. The project continues to progress as planned, with significant milestones achieved over the past few weeks. While we remain mindful of the developing cyclone and any potential impact it may have on the schedule, the construction team is committed to maintaining momentum and ensuring quality outcomes.

Recent Milestones Achieved Stage 1:

  • Foundation Preparation: Excavation and site preparation were successfully completed, providing a stable base for the new retaining wall.
  • Structural Installation: The initial section (50%) of the retaining wall has been installed, ensuring alignment and structural integrity.
  • Drainage and Reinforcement: Key drainage components have been integrated to enhance longevity and resilience against erosion.

We appreciate the patience and support of our members during this process. We will continue to monitor weather conditions and give you more updates as needed. Thank you for your understanding as we work to enhance this key course area.

2025 Keperra Bowl

With the 2025 Keperra Bowl now moved from its traditional mid-October timeslot to March, the Club is eager to witness a field featuring an even greater depth of elite amateur golfers from across Australia, as well as a select number of international players. As always, the Club is seeking volunteers to help with the smooth running of the event. Members who are interested in contributing their time for a day or two are encouraged to email the Club at admin@keperragolf.com.au, specifying their preferred dates. Last year's runner-up (one of two) in the Men's Championship and Keperra Country Golf Club Gents Club Champion, Wes Hinton, will be aiming to improve on his performance after a successful last few months.

For those members unfamiliar with The Bowl, it provides the club with an excellent opportunity to showcase the course, the overall facilities of the club and importantly the welcoming culture that Keperra possesses. The Board would like to thank all members for their support of the tournament and the facility access sacrifices that are made throughout the 5 days of the event.

Play will still be available over 9 holes for the full duration of the event. All Clubhouse access and general member services will remain unchanged throughout the week of the tournament.

The Club has also received requests for billets from players participating in the Championships.  Any members willing and prepared to assist with Billeting (which is very much appreciated) is encouraged to contact the Club via admin@keperragolf.com.au
